What A/D Stuck Means
On Viking's freestanding gas range platform, three flashes of the cycle light followed by a four-second pause with the clean light steady on is charted as A/D Stuck - the control's analogue-to-digital conversion has stopped changing, so the readings it works from are frozen. It appears in the RVGR3305B service manual (2013, page 9), and the same three-flash pattern means something different on Viking's dual-fuel and induction charts.
Common Causes of A/D Stuck
- Control board's conversion circuit has failed and is returning a fixed value
- A sensor input stuck at one end of its range, so the conversion never moves
- Supply reference to the control drifting outside specification
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is no homeowner adjustment. What matters is recording the model number along with the flash count, because this pattern is read against a different chart on other Viking platforms and the wrong chart sends the repair to the wrong part.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Frozen readings mean the oven can be regulating to a temperature it is not actually at, which is not something to keep using while it is investigated.
- Reading the flash pattern correctly is the whole diagnosis on a control with no numeric display, and three flashes is the one row where Viking's platforms disagree.
- The control board lives behind the panel of a range connected to a gas line, so panel removal is not a casual step here.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
