What Light China Flashing Means
On Viking's older DFUD-series undercounter dishwashers, a flashing "Light China" wine-glass icon flags a water-inlet problem — documented directly in this platform's own owner's manual.
Common Causes of Light China Flashing
- Household water supply valve to the dishwasher is closed or only partly open
- Inlet valve solenoid has failed
- Wiring problem between the inlet valve and the control board
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the water supply valve behind or under the unit is fully open — a partly closed valve is the single most common cause and an easy first check.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the supply valve is already fully open, the inlet valve sits in a pressurized line, and disconnecting it without shutting off supply first can flood the cabinet underneath.
- This can be confused with a level-sensing problem elsewhere in the fill circuit, making it easy to replace the wrong part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
