What Fill Error Means
Two flashes then two means that during a fill the pressure sensor never reached the target fill pressure. Viking's FDB451 dishwasher service manual (2012, page 12) lists six checks, starting with whether the water is genuinely turned on and whether the fill line is kinked.
Common Causes of Fill Error
- Supply valve closed or only part open
- Fill line kinked behind the machine
- Machine out of level, so the sensor reads the wrong depth
- Household water pressure has fallen
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the supply valve under the sink or behind the machine fully, look at the fill line for a kink where it passes the cabinet side, and confirm the dishwasher sits level both front to back and side to side. Viking also asks whether household water pressure has dropped, which a recent filter change or work on the main can easily do.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Once the supply-side checks pass, what is left is the pressure sensor and the control, and those are diagnosed at the board rather than at the tap.
- The inlet valve sits in a pressurised line, so disconnecting it without shutting the supply first floods the cabinet underneath.
- Leveling a fitted dishwasher means adjusting feet that carry the machine up against the worktop, and one raised unevenly binds the door on the cabinetry.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
