What LED Off Means
A diagnostic LED that is off on the electronic control of a Viking undercounter ice machine is the normal reading with the selector switch in either the off or the on position. Viking lists it first in the diagnostic LED section of the VUIM/DUIM150 service manual (2009, page 30), ahead of the flashing patterns that do mean something.
Common Causes of LED Off
- Control healthy with the selector in its normal position
- A production problem that lies outside the sensors the LED reports on
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing to act on. Its value is negative: with the LED dark and no ice arriving, the control is not reporting a sensor problem, so the search belongs to the water side, the sealed system or the cutter grid instead.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The control is reached from the back of the unit behind the lower shroud, so seeing the LED at all means an undercounter machine pulled out over its own water and drain lines.
- A dark LED rules out the sensors but says nothing about the water valve, the circulation pump or the cutter grid, and those are diagnosed by measurement rather than by lamp.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
