What E:07 Means
E:07 is the water inlet valve problem, and Viking's FDWU324 service manual (December 2018, page 33) describes it precisely: the control watches the flow meter at every step of the program, and if pulses arrive at any step other than water inlet it raises this problem. It then runs the drain pump for one minute, checks again, and keeps cycling the pump one minute on and one minute off while the condition persists.
Common Causes of E:07
- Inlet valve stuck open or weeping past its seat
- Debris on the valve seat holding it slightly open
- Low water pressure leaving the valve unable to close cleanly
- Control electronics problem
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Shut off the water supply valve to the dishwasher. This code means water is entering when the control never asked for it, which is the behavior behind a tub that is wet when nobody ran a cycle, and isolating the supply stops it while you arrange a repair.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A valve passing water unasked is the failure mode that ends in a flooded floor, so the supply goes off rather than the code being watched for a few more cycles.
- Viking's own response is to keep pumping out one minute in two, which is the machine holding the line rather than solving anything - and it only works while the machine has power.
- The valve sits in the pressurised supply line, so replacing it starts with isolating that line and not with loosening the fitting.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
