What door Means

On the ERC platform the control flashes the word "door" in the display when a full door-lock cycle has not finished within sixty seconds of the door lock relay being energised. Viking prints this warning immediately above the F-code table in the VGDO271 service notebook (page 42).

Common Causes of door

  • Door not closing far enough for the latch to finish its travel
  • Latch motor running slowly or binding
  • Latch switch not reporting the end of travel back to the control

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Check that nothing is sitting against the door - a rack pushed forward or a pan handle across the opening will stop it pulling in far enough for the latch to complete its travel. Beyond that, do not try to help the latch along by hand.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • This warning arrives as a clean cycle is being set up, so the cavity is about to go to cleaning temperature - a lock that has already failed to confirm is the wrong thing to leave unresolved at that moment.
  • Viking's note that the latch will not run unless the door switch button is depressed means the problem can sit in the door switch rather than the latch, and that is a distinction made with a meter rather than by eye.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

door FAQ

Yes. The control is telling you the lock did not confirm inside its sixty-second window, and it will not run a cleaning cycle without that confirmation.

No. A door held a few millimetres open by something inside gives the same result, which is why checking the opening comes first.
