What LOW-FLAME Means
This means flames are noticeably lower than normal even at the highest knob setting, across one or more burners. This matches a row in Viking's own outdoor grill troubleshooting table (T-Series service manual, 2009, page 30; the same table appears in the VGBQ/VGIQ E-Series service manual, 2011, page 36) — the row for low heat with the knob on High, whose probable causes are the gas supply line, the gas supply itself, gas pressure, the burner orifice and the air shutter.
Common Causes of LOW-FLAME
- Burner ports are clogged with grease or insect debris
- Regulator is delivering reduced pressure
- Gas line has a partial restriction
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the tank isn't running low and that burner ports aren't visibly clogged with debris before assuming a regulator problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Distinguishing a clogged burner from a regulator problem requires checking gas pressure directly, which needs the right gauge and technique.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
