What E:10 Means
E:10 is raised when communication between the main electronic board and the user interface board is lost during a normal working cycle. Viking's FDWU324 service manual (December 2018, page 35) lists cable harness errors, failing socket installation, failing electronics, the main board and the user interface board as the candidates.
Common Causes of E:10
- Cable harness to the user interface board damaged
- Socket at either board not properly seated
- Main electronic board failing
- User interface board failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the breaker for two minutes, restore power and see whether the controls respond normally. If the buttons have stopped doing anything at all, that is the sign this code describes rather than a separate problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The user interface and the display are separate boards on this platform, so a problem on one does not tell you anything definite about the other.
- Testing which end of the link has failed means access to both boards inside the door assembly at once, past the seal that protects them from steam.
- Ordering a user interface board against the wrong revision for the model leaves a part that will not talk to the main board it is paired with.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
