What Low Level Error Means

Two flashes then three means the pressure sensor is reporting a water level below the low threshold. Viking's FDB451 dishwasher service manual (2012, page 12) starts the list with something easy to overlook - items in the rack that have not been secured, which hold water that should have returned to the sump.

Common Causes of Low Level Error

  • Items in the rack catching and holding wash water
  • Drain hose missing its high loop, so the sump empties itself
  • Pressure sensor reading low
  • Main control problem

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Look at how the load is packed. A tall bowl or a stockpot that has tipped catches a surprising volume, and Viking puts exactly that at the top of the list. Check too that the drain keeps its high loop, since a missing one lets the sump drain away between fills.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • A dishwasher short of water washes badly long before it reports anything, so the loading cause is worth eliminating before paying for a diagnosis.
  • Telling a genuinely low sump apart from a sensor that reads low means checking the sensor voltage against Viking's published figures.
  • The high loop lives behind the machine, so checking it means drawing the dishwasher out over its own supply and drain lines.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
