What Blower Error Means
Five flashes then two means the blower's current sense reading is outside the expected range. Viking's chart assigns this row to the 450 model of the platform, which uses a blower to move air through the tub during drying (FDB451 service manual, 2012, page 13; VDB325/450 service manual, 2011, page 18).
Common Causes of Blower Error
- Wiring between the main control and the blower disconnected
- Blower motor has failed or seized
- Main control misreading the blower's current draw
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
No home check applies. What is worth noting is whether the machine has gone quiet at the end of a cycle where it used to make a soft running noise, because that noise was the blower and its absence is the plainest sign.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The blower shares the drying circuit with the vent and the dry heater, and the three produce similar complaints, so testing decides which of them is actually drawing wrongly.
- Reaching the blower means opening the door assembly or the machine's side, both of which disturb the steam seal around the electronics.
- A seized blower motor draws current without turning, so the machine can appear to be doing something while achieving nothing.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
