What Motor Control Status Error Means
One flash of the Pots & Pans Wash light then two of the Normal Wash light means the motor control has reported a motor operation failure that it attributes to itself. Viking's FDB451 dishwasher service manual (2012, page 12) is specific about the direction of blame: on this row the motor control is the probable cause rather than the motor.
Common Causes of Motor Control Status Error
- Motor control board has failed
- Wiring between the motor control and the motor is broken
- Motor failing and pulling its controller into a problem state
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is nothing to do beyond describing the sign accurately. A wash motor that never starts, one that starts and cuts out, and one that runs while moving no water are three different pictures, and which one you have narrows the search considerably.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Viking keeps this code apart from the one that blames the motor, so fitting a motor against a code that points at its controller is exactly the purchase the chart exists to prevent.
- The three-phase wash motor is driven from its own controller board and reads roughly 15 ohms between phases, a figure that means nothing taken on a machine still connected.
- Reaching motor and controller means drawing the machine out of its cutout on lines cut to length, with the drain hose looping behind it where it kinks unseen.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
