What 1 Flash Means
One flash every 15 seconds from the diagnostic LED on the VCC3 inverter is the healthy reading: the inverter reports no failure detected. Viking's built-in side-by-side service manual SMR-0008A (2010, page 40) lists it as normal and sends the technician to look at the rest of the refrigeration system if the cabinet still will not cool.
Common Causes of 1 Flash
- Inverter and compressor operating normally, with the problem lying elsewhere in the system
- Control board not calling for the compressor to run even though conditions say it should
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing to put right at the LED. What it does is tell you where not to spend money: with a single slow flash the inverter and the compressor it drives are reporting healthy, which moves the search onto the fans, the defrost circuit, the door seals and the sensors.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The inverter and its LED share the machine compartment with uninsulated line-voltage terminals, so reading the flash pattern happens with a panel off and the circuit live.
- Viking's procedure for the compressor-off case runs to unplugging the inverter, waiting two minutes, reconnecting and then waiting twelve more before judging the result - a sequence that is easy to cut short and misread.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
